Job Description
Who We Are:
We are Zetique. We empower small businesses to stay on top of their finances. We pride ourselves on being an innovative boutique bookkeeping and accounting company, always evolving and pushing into new dimensions.
We consider ourselves saviors of small businesses. Far too often, our clients are overlooked by larger firms and left feeling neglected or unworthy of financial assistance. We are here to guide them, answer their questions, put their numbers in order, and become a part of their team.
We don't just work with numbers. We work with business owners.
Our Vision:
To become a leader in financial management for small businesses, leveraging technology and human expertise to bridge the service gap left by larger firms.
Our Mission:
To provide accurate, timely, and personalized financial services that empower small businesses to make informed financial decisions and grow with confidence.
Core Values:
We exclusively work with small businesses that share our values of integrity, transparency, and growth.
We prioritize collaboration, inclusivity, and flexibility.
We put our clients at the heart of everything we do.
We believe financial information should be understandable, useful, and accessible to every business owner.
The POD Concept:
At Zetique, our clients are supported through PODs — small, self-sustained teams that collaborate to deliver exceptional service.
As an Accounting Partner, you will work as a shared accounting specialist across multiple PODs, partnering closely with our Client Financial Partners.
You will provide accounting expertise when needed, assist with more complex accounting matters, support financial reporting, and work directly with clients when your expertise is required.
High Demanding and Opportunity for Growth:
This is a demanding position for someone who is motivated, analytical, proactive, and passionate about helping small businesses succeed.
We are looking for someone who doesn't simply complete accounting tasks but takes ownership, asks questions, identifies problems, and finds solutions.
If you want to work directly with entrepreneurs, think outside the box, and help build the future of small-business financial services, this opportunity is for you.
Why Join Us:
At Zetique, you will have the opportunity to work remotely, interact directly with business owners, and work across a diverse range of small businesses.
We are looking for someone who is tech-savvy, highly organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and able to work independently while collaborating closely with Client Financial Partners and the wider team.
Role Highlights:
As an Accounting Partner, you will provide specialized accounting support across multiple PODs and client portfolios. You will review financial information, prepare financial statements and year-end working papers, handle accounting adjustments, assist with tax and CRA-related matters, and provide practical financial guidance.
You will be a go-to accounting resource for both our team and our clients.
Responsibilities:
Review financial records and accounting files for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare adjusting journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
Prepare year-end working papers and schedules for tax preparation.
Assist with corporate tax and T2 preparation.
Prepare and/or review GST/HST filings and related reconciliations.
Review payroll-related accounts, including source deductions and year-end balances.
Review shareholder loans, dividends, owner draws, and other corporate transactions.
Assist with CRA-related matters and communicate with CRA when required.
Analyze financial statements and identify trends, discrepancies, and areas requiring attention.
Provide accounting guidance and support to Client Financial Partners across multiple PODs.
Work directly with business owners to explain accounting information and answer accounting-related questions.
Assist clients with budgeting, cash-flow planning, forecasting, and financial analysis when required.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Maintain organized working papers and accurate client records.
Stay current with Canadian accounting standards, CRA requirements, GST/HST, and payroll regulations.
Contribute to improving Zetique's accounting processes, systems, and services.
Manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple PODs and client files.
Requirements:
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably working with small businesses or owner-managed corporations.
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and practices.
Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and year-end working papers.
Strong understanding of GST/HST, payroll, and corporate accounting.
Experience with T2 preparation is an asset.
CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is an asset.
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop.
Experience working with multiple accounting, payroll, payment, and business-management platforms.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to explain accounting concepts in simple, client-friendly language.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Strong client-service mindset and ability to work collaboratively with Client Financial Partners.
Demonstrated eagerness to learn, innovate, and improve processes.
Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
What We Offer:
Fully remote role with flexible hours.
Direct interaction with small-business owners and entrepreneurs.
Opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Competitive compensation, health benefits, office equipment, and paid vacation for full-time roles.
Opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of Zetique's accounting and advisory services.
A collaborative, technology-driven work environment.
Probation Period:
Zetique maintains a structured performance evaluation process, which includes a 6-month probationary period for all new hires.
During this period, performance will be assessed based on accuracy and quality of work, adherence to processes, communication, ability to meet deadlines, problem-solving, client service, and overall contribution to the team. Regular feedback and performance discussions will be conducted throughout the probationary period.
Please note: This is a fully remote position. Candidates must have a suitable home office setup, antivirus protection, and reliable high-speed internet. To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you are the ideal candidate for this role.
